
Auditions and Callbacks will be at the Saint James Cultural Arts Center - 176 2nd Street, St. James, NY 11780. Callbacks are January 8 (if necessary, by invitation). Prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song. An accompanist will be available. Bring sheet music in the correct key, or you may play a track that you bring. Be prepared to read from the script, if asked. All roles open. See character breakdown below.
The Show Runs 8 performances (March 13 - 22) at the new black box St. James Community Cultural Arts Center Theatre - 176 2nd Street, St. James, NY 11780. And 4 performances in Nassau County (Freeport) March 27-29 (possible extension).
We prefer talent who can do both the St. James and Nassau run, but we are open if you can only do one or the other.
Rehearsals will be mostly Tues & Thurs from 7-10, and Sat 2-5pm
Beginning Sat January 10th (1st Table read). Not everyone is called for all rehearsals. (see schedule in audition form for specific dates (subject to change). Tech week is March 9th-13th. There are two tech/dress rehearsals for the Nassau shows March 25 & 26,

Tevye - This role WILL be double cast.
Seeking an extremely charismatic actor. Good mover, and strong storyteller with great acting range. The likable, hard-working, pious dairyman who always tries to see the positive side of life. He is a proud patriarch and father of five daughters, closely raised according to the old scriptures.

Seeking an actress with great comedic and dramatic ability. She should be able to go toe-to-toe with Tevye.
Tevye's strong-willed wife who wishes for her daughters to have good husbands and live easier than she and Tevye.

Tevye's eldest daughter, who is madly in love with Motel. She is loyal to her family but typically challenges the town's traditions.

The meddling matchmaker. She is a widow and village busybody who knows all of the town gossip.

Must have great comedic chops.
The poor and meek tailor who shares a deep love with Tzeitel. Sensitive and nervous, but sincere and friendly.

The outspoken student and visitor to Anatevka, who constantly challenges the traditions of the town. He eventually falls in love with Hodel.

The feisty, brawny butcher and the town's wealthiest citizen who wishes to marry Tzeitel.

Lazar's Wolf's deceased first wife. She becomes enraged when her husband plans to wed Tzeitel.

Russian military official stationed near Anatevka who knows the villagers well, however he has superficial relationships with the villagers.

A strong, young Russian soldier who sees past his military obligations and falls in love with Chava. He challenges Tevye's imposed silence.
Gender: maleAge: 20 to 25
Ensemble - The diverse people of the Jewish village of Anatevka—Mamas, Papas, Sons, and Daughters—Featured Dancers, Russian Soldiers (such as Sasha and Boris) , & neighbors like the Innkeeper (Mordcha), the Beggar (Nachum), and the Hatter (Yussel), plus featured dancers, all key to showing the traditions and struggles within their world.
This production will help raise awareness and funds for a charity that helps battle Anti Semitism and support those effected by it. (specific charity to be annouced)
